To invest money, I have to spend less than I make and save the leftover amount for a long time. This means I have to give my money to a savings account, mutual fund, stock broker, etc. I lose control of my money for a time with the hope (hopefully educated hope) that when I get it back it will have grown. → Read More . . .

Recently we made an adjustment to our Sunday schedule. We decided to have Computer Free Sundays. For many Christians Sunday is considered the Sabbath day. As a family we have always tried to observe a day of rest but this is a radical change for me. 
How does one start investing? This is a common question. I have a really simple answer: One has to start giving.
We have all dreamed about winning the lottery. Especially when all our coworkers at the office come in and announce, “the jackpot is up to 200 million!” and a they are gathering a pool to buy tickets. We all say, “If we win, don’t expect to see me at work tomorrow!” It is natural to dream of getting a huge mass of money out of nowhere and then live a life of ease on the beach somewhere.
We have adopted two beautiful daughters from China and we have started the process to adopt a baby boy from China as well. For each these we have used 
We have adopted twice and are starting the process for our third adoption. Last year we also made the decision to send our first daughter to a private, Christian school for kindergarten. These are very expensive decisions. I do make an above average salary at my job but Linda does not work outside the home so we live on my salary alone. The question we sometimes get is, “how can you afford that?”
