In my previous post I gave a brief overview of the Investopedia stock market Simulator. I also included a short video to walk you through your first trade. Click Here to see Part 1.
Here is the second video showing how our first trades did after one day in the market.
A quick thing we learned in our first trade is the commission cost for each trade. In the Investopedia Simulator game we are in, each market trade has a commission cost of $19.99. Our three trades had a total cost of $59.97. Our portfolio gained nearly $43 for the day but that still leaves us down almost $20 after one day in the market.
This is one small reason it is good to have a long term perspective when you are investing. In the short term your investments can go down. Over a longer time, when invested wisely, your investment should grow.
I have been using Investopedia Simulator for nearly two years. Not a long time in terms of investing. But I feel I have learned a lot without having to lose my own money in the process.
I have joined two of the main games, each starting with $100K. In one game I have almost $168K – pretty good. In the other I have about $74K – not so good. I have learned a few things that work. And maybe more importantly, I am learning what does not work – at least for me.
From this point you can go on and buy more virtual stocks. You can try different mixes of different types of stocks. Look at some of the other Games. Play around with it. This is one of my favorite way to learn. A hands-on simulation of the real thing.
Please leave a comment and let me know if you enjoyed this brief How-To on the Investopedia Simulator.

Loved it. Thanks
