I noticed last weekend that I got bumped to 2nd place in my inMessment Game. Mayoman7 beat me out for the top spot. As the market has gone up and down this week, Mayoman7 and I have been swapping places as the leader. What has pushed Mayoman7′s portfolio to the top? Its the high dividend stock he chose. 
Recently I did a post on the Major US Stock Market Indexes. Many investing sites also list major market indexes for foreign markets. For the European markets it seems that there are three big favorites, the FTSE 100, the DAX and the CAC 40. 
I got an email from CNBC yesterday stating that trading will be suspended for one week on the Million Dollar Portfolio Contest. This is a shocker! Apparently a few people found a loophole in the game and we using it to cheat the system. The biggest shocker is, “all player accounts will be reset to their opening balance.” 
When one starts investing in the US Stock Market, one soon become acquainted with the big thee stock market indexes: The Dow, The S&P 500 and The NASDAQ. What are these three indexes that are listed on the home page of just about every major US online investment site? 
The third quarter of 2011 has ended. Time to review my inMessment Game results and see how I have done. I will share the Good, the Bad and the Ugly events of Q3. 
The CNBC Million Dollar Portfolio Contest is only on for 10 weeks. Sep. 19 to Nov. 25, 2011. Then the contest is over. This is not investing. In fact, having an investing mindset is not likely to get me very far in the contest. This is the mindset in which I set up my first contest portfolio. At this point that portfolio is barely breaking even. To do well in a game like this I must have a short-term, maybe even day-trading mindset. 
After just two days the CNBC Million Dollar Portfolio Contest is in full swing! I currently have six Equity holdings in only one of the five game portfolios. As of September 20, 2011, I am ranked 35363rd. I am not at a big risk of winning the vacation trip this week! 
Back in January of 2011 I was surprised by the 2 percent Social Security Tax Cut. At that time I decided to up my 401k contribution by 2 percent for 2011. I have been wondering what I would do in 2012 when the Social Security Tax Cut was rolled back. If Congress approves the President’s plan, Social Security Taxes will be cut again! 
Today’s big stock market news for me is the CNBC Million Dollar Portfolio Contest! As the name suggests, the top prize is $1,000,000.00. CNBC is also giving away a Maserati GranTurismo Convertible Sport and 10 Exotic One&Only and Atlantis Resort vacations. This is the biggest online stock market simulation game I have seen.
